Make new friends, but keep the old,

For some are silver; others gold!

My friend, Alison, is one of my Golden friends.

Although we knew each other for just our first year of high school, as Alison’s family moved away shortly after we completed our ninth school year, we remained friends throughout the years and now have made contact with each other again and resumed our friendship as if all those intervening years when we lost touch with each other had never happened.

Alison and I share a love of horses. We had one happy year of Pony Club before the parting of our ways.

While I have now taking up riding my Lazy-Boy and watching Youtube Videos to feed my equine habit, Alison has taken up riding again in her late 50’s. Dressage, no less – one of the most demanding of horsemanship disciplines.

Now an accomplished equestrienne, here is a video of Alison riding a dressage test at the Maple Ridge Equestrian Center in British Columbia in the spring of 2011, and another practice video which shows her hard at work perfecting her skills.

Well Done, Alison! (And Sydney!)
