BARTIMAEUS

.

Mark 10:46-52 (King James Version)

46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

‘And he, casting away his garment, came to Jesus.’

TO THINK ABOUT…

Bartimeus was blind. There were multitudes with Jesus. Yet in faith he cast away his garment, rose and came to Jesus, guided, not doubt, but the sound of Jesus voice.

First – He heard that Jesus was passing by. (I heard that many times while growing up, yet never paid much heed.)

Second – He began to cry out to Jesus from where he was sitting.

Third – His friends told him to ‘shut up.’

Forth – Bartimeus hollered all the louder. (Because he knew in his heart that Jesus could, and would, help him.)

Fifth – He didn’t ask to be healed – he asked for Mercy.

Sixth – He knew in his heart who Jesus was – Son of David.

Seventh: Jesus commanded and was obeyed by his followers.

Eighth: Bartimeus responded immediately – he rose, he came in response to the call of the Lord.

Ninth: Bartimeus told Jesus exactly what he wanted from him

Tenth: He got what he asked for.

And so much more!

May We Rejoice Together in In Thanksgiving for God’s Love, Grace & Provision!

HYMN by ANNIE J. FLINT

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.

His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power has no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

Fear not that your need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.

His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power has no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

Amen! Thank You Lord Jesus!
