VERY DAYS
.
Sometimes I forget, or don’t realize or even understand, that our world is a world in progress.
It had a beginning and it is moving toward a conclusion. Followed closely by a new beginning!
The Bible begins in the book of Genesis with the statement: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…
The Bible ends with a promise: Behold, I make all things new!
There is a small word in the Bible that is often used, and often overlooked. It is the word ‘Very.’
The word very is a VERY emphatic word.
It signals that a remarkable point has been made.
One well known example of the use of this significant word is recorded in the book of Daniel when Daniel stated that the temple sanctuary would be polluted for 2300 days.
Daniel 8:14
Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, “How long until the fulfillment of the vision of the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, the surrender of the sanctuary and of the host to be trampled?” (Daniel 8:14)
He said to me, “It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be properly restored.”
And on that very day, it was!
In accordance with Daniels prophecy, it was exactly 2300 days, (six and a half years) to the very day when the temple was cleansed and restored.
Very days are exact days and related to both time and actions.
Here are just a few examples from Scripture:

Acts 26:22
But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen…
God has set a day, an exact day when he is going to judge the world in righteousness. Let us be ever mindful as we live each day that was appointed to us before the beginning of time.
Acts 17:30
“Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent because He has set a day when He is going to judge the world in righteousness by the Man He has appointed. He has provided proof of this to everyone by raising Jesus from the dead.”
James 4:14
…yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes…
It’s impossible to grasp that on the very day the Lord has appointed, each of us will stand before Him.
Until then, let us taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Psalm 34:8
