Habakkuk lived and was active around 612 BCE before the birth of Jesus.
Habakkuk 1:5-11 is a prophecy in which God relates His intention to raise up Babylon, a ruthless and dreaded nation, to achieve His purpose.
One of the most distressing problems that human beings have to face is the great question of why God allows certain things to happen.
Habakkuk asks this same question: Does God sometimes use evil to accomplish His plans? In this present day and age, we also ask this question!
As you read the Old Testament story of Habakkuk you will discover the problem Habbakkuk wrestled with and how he eventually found the answer. As a result, Habakkuk became a comforter and embracer of his people in their time of distress.
Habakkuk lived in a time very similar to our day; a time when everything seemed to be going wrong. There was great national corruption, much like we see in our world today. Nations were filled with violence, hatred and outbreaks of evil.
May you be blessed by reading this difficult, yet amazingly relevant book from the Old Testament that has many similarities to much of what is happening in our present age.
